Feeling Queasy? What's that?

Hope was up sick last night, so not much sleep was had at our house last night.  Oh well, she woke up and was only sick once today, so definitely on the mend.  Both Joe and I have felt queasy all day.  I always feel that way.  Sympathy illness, I hope.  :)

Anyway, Hope was worried about me eating lunch when I got home this afternoon.  I told her I was going to wait a bit because my stomach was feeling queasy.  She asked me what that meant.  So had to explain that my tummy was upset too, but I didn't really feel like I was going to get sick.  So I had to eat something to prove to her I wasn't sick.  So far so good.  :)

So maybe we will still take the afternoon and go to the Fair.  We will have to see how everyone is doing.

Joe decided to water the back yard yesterday.  Had two cardinals that were enjoying a cool summer bath as the sprinkler would pass over the branches they were sitting on.  Then they would shake their feathers and wait for the water to come back.  This is the mama bird.  You can see the drops of water on the tree branches.

I made a few cards for a recent call, but didn't hear anything on them, so will share them here.  

These were both really simple cards, which are my favorite to make.

My first published project!!!

Ok, I have had this idea book since I went to CHA, and am just now getting around to sharing it with you. Northridge publishing had lots of samples of their books and magazines currently available.

I knew I had my first mini album coming out soon.  So I started flipping through the magazine, and THERE IT WAS!  I was a little giddy seeing my work in an idea book.

Dawn, Kristi and I had a great time at the Jason Aldean concert.  We were pretty far up, but found these great pictures on line.

The weather was great too.  Had my first corn dog of the State Fair.  Luckily I get to go back on Monday and will likely sample the mini donuts and probably some lemonade too.  YUM!

Well, off to hang out for the night and enjoy more NICE weather.  It is nearly perfect out.

Summer's End

Well, summer is winding down for us.  Today is Hope's last day in the summer program and then she starts school in just over a week.  I can't believe she will be in first grade.  Oh my!  Seems like yesterday she was just in preschool.

So, here is a layout I created of her preschool graduation.  The red background is from the Fancy Pants Beach Babe line.  The rest is from the Simple Stories school line, which you can buy here.

Tooth #2

When I picked Hope up from the summer program this afternoon, she gave me a BIG grin.  She had lost her 2nd tooth.  She was very excited and they had it saved in a little baggie for her.  This time we won't have to leave a note for the tooth fairy because her first tooth was lost out on the playground (in the snow) when it fell out.  So tonight, the fairy will be flying in.  Good thing she brushed her teeth this morning good to get all the sugar bugs out!

I have a feeling I am going to have a great Christmas photo this year.  The tooth next to it is also really loose, so maybe all she will want for Christmas is her two front teeth.  :)

Here is another layout I did a while ago.  It is of her dance picture from a year ago.

It is a real simple layout. using MME paper and banner, a Prima flower, a chipboard crown from Maya Road and Glitter from Stampin Up.

Today was the first day of the State Fair!  I have tickets to go to the Jason Aldean concert tomorrow night! Can't wait.  It is sold out and going to be a great show.  Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't storm and cancel the show.  I have gone in the rain before, and they still play as long as there isn't lightening (it is an outdoor show).  Here's to a good time with my sister and best friend!

Are you feeling dizzy?

Hope was in rare form last night.  Full of funny stuff!

It was such a beautiful night that we decided to sit out on the back deck and just enjoy it for a bit before bedtime.  After a while, she grabbed my phone and started playing some of her games on there.  Just before we went inside, she asked me "Are you feeling dizzy?".  I wasn't really at the time since I was sitting down, so I said no.  Then she said she was controlling the world with my phone.  She pulled up a solar system app on my phone and had the world up on the screen.  She was making it spin and spin and spin....you get the picture.  Anyway, so I played along as we went inside and asked daddy if he was feeling dizzy.  How about you?  Feeling Dizzy?  :)

Then after they had gone up to bed, I heard her come down again.  So, she hollers at me, "mom, dad needs to talk to you?".  About what?  It was about something on Friday.  As he was responding back to the person on FB Hope and I were having a talk.  She was sitting on my lap and the topic of "boobies" came up.  She started poking at mine and I asked her to stop and then said, "Did you know that someday you will have boobies too?".  Not sure where that came from, but I guess I was getting at something there.  It turned in a funny direction.

Hope responds with "I will?!?!?!?"
Hope:  Do daddy's have boobies?

Here is where we started laughing.

So cleverly, I respond that boys have peck muscles instead of boobies.  Then went on further to say the muscle is actually called a pectoral muscles and that girls have them too.  They are just hidden under our "boobies".

Then we all got the giggles, and she thought all of that was just hilarious.  Who knows why?

Sorry if this is TMI for anyone, but I thought it was funny enough to share here.  :)

Ok, here is another layout I completed this weekend.

This was the Santa picture from 2009.  The only way we could get  Annie close to see Santa was if we all went up together, including Grandma Deloris.  Then she decided he wasn't so scary (she is the one on the far right).

I also got 15 cards from the scraps.  This was a Bo Bunny line from a few years ago and some Pink Paislee chipboard letter/shapes.  Pretty easy to put together.

Well after a couple of games of War and SlapJack, it is time to get Hope to bed.

Hives!

Oh, how I despise them.  Sometimes I go years and sometimes just months between my chronic outbreaks. Well, I have had small ones here and there over the past few years, but this time they are getting out of control again.  So had to break down and go get some stronger meds at the doctor.  They always make me feel yucky, but will hopefully go away soon.

Hope asked yesterday how old I was.  So I told her.  She said, Oh good, then next time we go to Adventureland you will be able to ride then planes with me.  Dad had told her there was a sign saying you had to be under 55 to ride the planes.  I am guessing it meant 55 lbs and not by age.  :)  Anyway, she continued on and said that the boy she rode the planes with was now her boyfriend.  I asked her if she asked what his name was.  No, but I really liked him, so I think he is going to be my boyfriend now.  Oh boy.  I have a feeling 1st grade is going to be filled with lots of boyfriends.  We will see.  Stay tuned for further updates on this topic...

Anyway, I will share my Project 12 July sketch layout.  Here is the sketch it is based on.

And here is my layout...

It is kind of hard to see, but around the outside edge I decided to sew an alternating straight and zig-zag stitch.  I like how it added just a little more detail to the layout.

Of course, Hope was interested in what I was doing with my sewing machine.  So after I was done, we did some more sewing on paper.  She got to push the petal and choose what stitch it was going to be.  Now she wants to get it out all the time.

And just for fun, here is a card to share with you too.

I punched a circle from paper and ran it through my Xyron sticker maker.  I wasn't sure how to start the spiral, so I put a button in the middle and started wrapping around it, switching colors to get the variegated look of a lollipop.  When I got to the outside, just trim off edge.  Then carefully, peel off the button in the center and fill in with more baker's twine.  You could buy sucker sticks or here I used stickers from Pink Paislee.  The blue one was actually a 3-D sticker and I just peeled off the top layer to use on the card.  The pink one I left 3-D.

Great day!

We had a very  nice visit with Jessica (Hope's birthmom) and her family.  Her husband and two boys came to visit.  The kids all played and had a great time.  We hadn't seen each other since Christmas, so all the kids had gifts to open too.

This is Ethan getting a kiss from Reilly.  :)  The boys loved Reilly and I think it was mutual.

In Hope's gift, she got fingernail polish, so she asked Jessica to paint her nails.

On to scrappy shares...

I distressed the edges of all the papers and inked them too.  Papers are from Crate Paper, Simple Stories, and MME.  Stickers from Simple Stories, letter stickers from Jillibean.  Others from Maya Road and my own stash.  

My August P12 layout is also using some of these papers too.  I will be sharing that layout this week along with my July sketch layout.

Well, heading to bed since it sounds like it is going to be storming here in a few hours.

Plum tired!

Since I am finishing up with the So Sofie cards today, thought I would play on the colors involved.  I am tired.  I stayed up late at a scrapbook crop at my church and then got up early to go back and finish up this afternoon.  I could really use a nap, but will have to settle for an early bedtime (I hope).

I got a lot done at the crop and will be sharing them soon.  I got 15 cards and several layouts completed, which included the July and August P12 sketches.

Here are today's cards.  These were both based on the same card idea, just one is turned vertical and the other horizontal.  I think these turned out to be my favorite cards, probably because they were made with some of my favorite color combinations.

Scrapbooking...

I have been scrapbooking at a crop today at church, but had to take a break to pick up Hope and wait for Joe to get home.  So far I completed one layout and 13 cards.  I am pretty happy with that and am going back until I am too tired to scrapbook anymore.  :)

So I am keeping it short tonight.  Here are two more cards (continued from the MME So Sofie paper line).

I love how the same line of paper can give you such different looks, depending on which paper is the focus of your project.

It is finally complete!

We finally got all the right parts to Hope's art cabinets.  If you remember, I said we went a little over the top, but it will all be put to good use.  So here it is...

When they originally came, all the cabinets were the open cubbies.  We had ordered it this way.  So they left the open ones and replaced them when the correct ones came in.  She got home today and when she saw it, she started jumping up and down screaming.  I think she liked it.  :)

Of course, the delivery wasn't without incident.  They brought the boxes in and started putting it together.  One of the boxes fell over and knocked over one of my lamps in my scrapbook area.  And of course it broke.  It still works for now and they were going to go buy me a new one.

Maybe when they come back I will point out that they put the doors on upside down.  Good grief!  Pay attention to details!

So that drama continues for now...

Anyway, the girls are here now and they are putting it to good use.

Hope wanted her bangs braided.  :)

Hope was at Grandma D's for the past few days with the twins.  They went to the County Fair and saw the animals and went swimming at the local pool to cool off one afternoon.  To get from town out to the farm where mom lives, you have to drive past the cemetery where dad (Papa D) is buried.  They girls always want to stop and "see" him.  Mom was listening to the girls talk.  The twins said they missed papa and Hope said "I don't remember him, but I miss him too".  Oh, break my heart.  Usually mom just drives past the grave, but this time they wanted to get out and send papa a message.  So they gave the gravestone a BIG group hug and then blew kisses into the sky like sending papa an email.  I hope he knows how to open it when it gets there.  :)

Alright, now on to some scrappy stuff.

I showed you a few days ago the two layouts I made from the So Sofie line from My Minds Eye.  Well, here are two cards I made from the scraps of those layouts.

Alright, that is enough for now.  I get to go to a scrapbook crop all day tomorrow and part of Saturday.  So I hope to get a lot done.  It is at a new church we have been going to the past few months so I am hoping to meet some other ladies there that enjoy the same hobby as I do.

To the Zoo...

I am the featured designer this month at The Scrappy Gourmet.  I created an easy Zoo mini album to hold all of your memories from a trip to the zoo.  It has lots of bright papers and embellishments to go along with it.  You can pick one up here.

Cute huh?  The pictures were from a trip to the Omaha zoo we took a few years ago.  

And the correct furniture for Hope's art area is finally being delivered today (as I am typing this).  So as soon as they are done and I have it all organized again I will share her new art studio.  Then I am going to get to some scrapbooking.  Hope is at Grandma D's so should be a quiet night with just me, the hubby and the dog.

Hello Monday!

For a Monday, worked seemed to go pretty fast today.  Maybe starting a new project made the day go faster.  I hope tomorrow goes fast too.  :)  Grandma D is taking Hope and the twins for a few days to go to the local County Fair.  They have fun doing this every year.  So I will have some evening time to scrapbook a little bit.  Yeah!

Well, here is the other layout made from the So Sofie line from My Minds Eye.

The picture was taken during her cheesy "cheese" smile phase.  I cracked up when we got these photos back.  And not sure what was up with her hair.  Looks like we just tried to brush it down with our hands.  Oh well, still cute!

After I made this layout and the one I shared yesterday, I created six cards from the scraps.  I will start sharing those tomorrow.
