Get Well Soon....Mom!

I have had a heck of a cold the past week and I got the perfect medicine last night.  Hope made me a card to make me feel better.

This was the front...

This was the inside...she is doing great learning her cursive.

And a little lesson with the colors of the rainbow...ROY G. BIV!

Well, before I start coughing again, going to keep it short.  Just had to share my cute little note from Hope.  And speaking of get well cards and such...here are a few related cards to share too.

And I better keep sharing some Christmas cards too, or I won't get them all shared before Christmas is here.  LOL!

Well, the Christmas season is almost here.  Have you started shopping yet?  I have a few things, but a lot more things to get done in the next few weeks.  Oh my!

Stay warm...Darla

Happy, Happy Happy!

I know that doesn't read like redneck talk, but if you watch Duck Dynasty then say it just like Phil!  This is one of Hope's new catch phrases.  She is so addicted to this show it cracks me up.  I guess there are worse shows she could be watching.

Well, this post will make my sister Debbie...Happy, Happy Happy!  She sent me a text the other day asking me to email her all layouts I have done lately since I haven't been very good at posting on the blog lately.  Well, at that point there was really only 1 layout I hadn't shared yet and the rest were cards.  After last weekend, I did complete several other layouts, so I will share there tonight.

These are especially for you Debbie...

This first layout is of my great niece, which is Debbie's first grandchild.  Kendal is 4 now (almost 5) and I found these pictures when we moved and knew I had the perfect papers to scrapbook them.

I think this is my favorite layout I created last weekend.  The dress Hope has on in this picture is the flower girl dress I wore in Debbie's wedding.

The next layout is finally done!  I went to this concert in 2010 and knew I wanted to scrapbook it because it was quite frankly the best seat EVER!  We bought our tickets the morning of the concert and ended up in then second row.  At the end of the show he autographed my ticket.  AWESOME!!!

I just had to use feathers on my layout because my earliest memories of Elton John were of him on Sesame Street and the Muppet Show in his big feathered hats and bright neon outfits and large sunglasses!  I bought an entire bag of feathers at Micheals just to get the perfect color for my layout.  The rest will go to Hope for craft projects.  :)

I also completed this Christmas layout using My Minds Eye papers from a season or two ago.  After looking at it, I need to add some journaling.  I will probably just create a pocket and add a pull out tag with some small details I want to remember from these photos.  Like the one of Hope showing off the  lower section of the tree...She called that the candy section since she hung all the candy related ornaments there.  She drew a self portrait to put in our frame since we didn't get around to printing a picture from Santa that year.  I also think this was the first year she put the Christmas tree together all by herself.

Well, since we are in the Christmas spirit, here are a few more Christmas cards to share with you too.

Have a good night!

Happy Veteran's Day!

I want to thank all of those who have served our country and their families too.  Thank you!  The words just don't seem to be enough, but I always try and show my appreciation and thank those I know have served or if I see them in uniform.

I also have to thank the man at the YMCA.  I see him every so often walking in the lap pool.  I say thank you to him, because he reminds me so much of dad.  He looks a lot like him and is always chatting with the lifeguards on duty and just other mannerisms I have noticed.  It is like having a secret visit from heaven when I see him.  He always leaves while I am still in the exercise pool, so I have never had a chance to talk with him.  Maybe someday.

Speaking of dad, here are two pictures of him during his time in the military.  So young!  :)

Here he is with his parents, Harvey and Artie Werts.  Look at the cars in the background.

Anyway, Joe and Hope went to visit his family up north and my friend Kristi came to visit.  This means I got some much needed scrapbooking time.  I got several pages done and actually have a few patriotic ones to share today, in honor of all Veterans.

This is my 4th of July layout from this year.   Now don't be thinking crazy that I am almost caught up, because I scrapbook out of order and do the pages I am inspired to do based on if I have papers that work with my pictures.

Case in point...this layout is using pictures from 2012.  In Iowa there is a large rock out in the middle of nowhere.  Literally!  Until 1999 it was called the graffiti rock, so a local man decided to start painting the rock with patriotic themes. Each year he paints over the entire rock in black and creates a new scene on each side of the rock.  His work is so amazing.

He has recently started a project to paint smaller rocks in each of the 99 counties in the state of Iowa. I wish him luck in this project.

And believe it or not, it snowed today!  Oh so not ready for winter weather, but I am pretty sure it is coming no matter what.

I recently did some winter layouts too...here is one of them.  Sorry the color isn't so great.

So say further thanks, here are several thank you cards...

Well, I will get back to sharing Christmas cards next time.  Have a great night and don't forget to thank a Veteran today (and always).
