The School that Built me

Over Memorial Day weekend, the small rural school that I attended had an ALL school reunion.  Every 5 years the school has one where anyone that has ever graduated from the school is invited.

As some background, grades Kindergarten through 12th grade are all in the same building.     This is an older picture of the school.

I only had 17 graduates in my class.  Yep, it was a small school...and while we didn't have the best sports teams, the experiences we did have definitely built character.  It helped build me into the person I am now...

So, only two from my class was in attendance at the reunion...

It was still great to see a lot of other classmates younger and older than my graduating class.   I hadn't see Emily in years!

That was the great thing about a small school.  While it wasn't all great, I choose to remember only the fun/good tiimes.  :)

Tawnya and I had our picture taken with some of our elementary teachers.

Mrs. Banasik (or Mrs. B as she let us call her) was our 5th grade teacher.

Mrs. Allen was our third grade teacher.

Mrs. Sandy was our 4th grade teacher.   She actually let our class call her grandma too, because her granddaughter was in our class and sometimes she would forget and call her grandma, so she made it ok for all of us to call her that.  LOL!

In 2008, the school actually closed and did not consolidate with any other districts.  The building was sold to several different owners through the years; however, the current owner is restoring the buildings into apartments.

We were unable to tour the updates to the apartment area, due to the possible exposure to asbestos.  Ironically, we had all been exposed to the tiles throughout our years of attending the school.  LOL!

What we were able to see looked great and I hope the owner is able to get renters into those apartments and keep the spirit of the building alive.

So, in the spirit of school being out for the summer and the fact that I have an 8th grader...here is a layout and cards to thank  all those teachers for everything they do!

This layout has a hidden picture behind the picture, which was the original school photo.  When Hope brough it home, we cracked up.  She had already refused to bring it home and was doing re-takes, so she was laughing with us at the photo.  I will not embarrass her by sharing that photo, but if you are ever visiting and want to check out the scrapbooks, feel free to take a peek.  HeeHee!

Here's to all the teachers...may you enjoy every second of your summer break!
